Kaibeto Boarding School

Kaibeto Boarding School Health Services include well-regulated procedures to respond quickly to any student illness, medication need, or medical emergency. The nurse or nurse's assistant collaborates with staff members, parents/guardians, and students to promote a safe and healthy environment for all. The school follows guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Navajo Nation, and the Arizona Department of Education.

Student Illness Procedures

Students should remain home if they are ill. If a student becomes ill and cannot remain in class, the teacher sends the student to the school nurse or front office. The school nurse or administrator will contact the student's parent/guardian to pick up the student.

Dispensing Medication (Prescription and Over-the-Counter)

The school nurse administers medications in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Education’s Medication Administration Policy

All medications must be:

  • Turned into the office or nurse upon arrival at school.
  • Stored in their original containers.
  • Accompanied by the prescription and dosage instructions.

Medical Emergency

In the event of a medical emergency, Kaibeto Boarding School will immediately transport the student to a local health facility or hospital. A staff member will notify the parent/guardian as soon as possible and remain with the student until the parent/guardian arrives.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Kaibeto Boarding School holds quarterly celebrations to reward students demonstrating academic success, good behavior, and regular attendance.
